Attensa Announces Public Beta of the First RSS Reader to Intelligently Prioritize RSS Feeds in Order of Relevance to the Reader

Attensa for Outlook AttentionStream™ RSS Reader Cuts Through Information Overload

Portland, OR. - July 18, 2006 - Attensa, Inc., the leading developer of RSS software for business, today introduced the free, public beta of Attensa for Outlook 1.5, the first RSS reader that helps people cut through information overload by using predictive ranking to bring RSS subscriptions and articles that readers find most interesting to the forefront. The beta version of Attensa for Outlook 1.5 is available for download at http://www.attensa.com.

Predictive Ranking AttentionStream

Attensa's AttentionStream™ technology uses predictive ranking to continuously observe and analyze how users read and process RSS articles and subscriptions. Through this ongoing analysis of AttentionStream™ data, including the time and frequency that feeds are accessed and articles read, deleted and ignored, Attensa for Outlook 1.5 displays feeds in a prioritized list based on the likelihood that they will be of interest to the reader. Priorities are constantly refined as the continuous stream of attention is processed.

Flexible Article Presentation

Attensa for Outlook 1.5 lets users choose how they want to present subscriptions and articles. In addition to being displayed using a standard Outlook format, subscriptions can be viewed in a "River of News" that simulates a single feed, regardless of the actual number of subscriptions. To accommodate varying preferences for feed-reading, articles can be read in order of importance based on:

  • Priority - This view uses Predictive Ranking to intelligently predict which subscriptions and articles will be most important to the reader at any given time.
  • Favorites - Articles are displayed based on which subscriptions are read most frequently and consistently. In addition to viewing a prioritized list of feeds based on AttentionStream analysis users can manually rank feeds by simply dragging and dropping the subscription to the top or bottom of their subscription lists.
  • Date - This view displays articles based on the most recently updated feeds.

New RSS users will find the reader intuitive and easy to use, while current RSS devotees will appreciate the ease with which they can import their OMPL files to get up and running quickly.

"RSS is destined to play a significant role in distributing critical information across the enterprise," said Craig Barnes, CEO of Attensa. "Attensa's AttentionStream technology gives information workers' efficiency a boost and cuts through information overload by automatically bringing critical information to their attention."

Improved performance and advanced compatibility with the Microsoft RSS Platform

Attensa for Outlook 1.5 also synchronizes with the new Microsoft RSS Platform. Leveraging the Microsoft Common Feed Store, RSS feeds are automatically synchronized across Attensa for Outlook, Windows Vista, Internet Explorer 7 and Outlook 2007 for a seamless user experience.
