The team consists of seasoned talent whose collective experience includes executive, marketing, and technical roles in the system enhancement, application specific, and client/server software markets. In addition, the management team possesses the proven ability to attract, manage, and empower software professionals to deliver world-class results on time and on budget.
Co-founders Craig Barnes, CEO, Eric Hayes, Vice President of Research and Development, and Tim Brown, Chief Technology Officer, have a long history of building companies and expanding markets for desktop, networked and infrastructure software. The team began working together in the early 1990's at Now Software; the industry leader in Macintosh based system enhancement utilities and networked calendar/contact management software. Their collaboration continued when Barnes founded Extensis; a venture backed software company specializing in desktop and networked productivity and digital asset management software. The company was sold for $142 million in 2000. Following Extensis, the team designed digital marketing infrastructure software to help Internet marketing agencies analyze and refine marketing campaigns in near real-time. The technology was licensed before the company launched.
Throughout his 25 year career, Charlie has been an advisor, executive and investor in companies developing software for financial services markets. Charlie has been an investor and strategic advisor to Attensa since its founding and was appointed to the CEO position May 2007.
Prior to joining Attensa he was CEO/President of StatiaFx, Inc., a developer of software solutions for financial institutions, which was sold to Financial Profiles, Inc. (a business unit of Hanover Insurance Group NYSE: THG). Following the transaction Charlie served as Financial Profiles' Vice President of Marketing, Products and Business Strategy.
Charlie was the Chief Operating Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of the Crabbe-Huson Group, Inc., a Pacific Northwest money management firm to institutions and the nine Crabbe-Huson Funds. The Crabbe-Huson Group ultimately grew to $5 billion in assets under management and sold to Liberty Financial Companies (now part of Bank of America) in 1998. He has also been a founding investor, board member and advisor to technology and services businesses.
Mr. Davidson graduated from the University of Oregon School of Business and Northwestern School of Law (J.D., magna cum laude). He began his career practicing law with the firm Garvey, Schubert & Barer, where his practice emphasized technology, securities and business transactions.
Eric is a software pioneer with 18 years experience in software architecture, design, engineering and technical team leadership. His innovative work in RSS networks, clustered server architecture, user experience, attention streams and scaled analytics is at the foundation of new standards and technologies developed by Attensa.
An Apple Design award winner, Eric has led the development of numerous successful desktop and networked applications. Prior to founding Attensa, Eric designed digital marketing infrastructure software to help Internet marketing agencies analyze and refine marketing campaigns in near real-time. As the Director of Engineering at Extensis, Hayes led the development of award-winning products including Preflight Pro and Suitcase Server. Prior to Extensis, Hayes was the principal architect and lead developer of Now Software's Now Contact and co-author of Now Up-to-Date, the world's best selling Macintosh personal information management software.
When he's not coding, Eric crafts fine hand tools and furniture.
Tim Brown is driving a variety of the company's technologies and product lines by leading the development of the Attensa RSS Engine, RSS client business logic, AttentionStream™ synchronization and aggregation and Attensa Enterprise Server integration with Microsoft Exchange.
At Extensis Tim was the architect and lead engineer for several products including the 3-Tier cross-platform client/server asset management application Extensis Portfolio. Tim's innovative work on Extensis Portfolio was patented. At Now Software, Brown was the lead engineer for several versions of Now Utilities, an award-winning system enhancement utility collection.
With 21 years of experience as a finance professional in the technology industry, Guy Field previously served as CFO for MedicaLogic and ProSight. At Mentor Graphics Guy gained extensive experience in finance, marketing and sales. In addition to leading MedicaLogic through an IPO, taking part in Mentor Graphics IPO and numerous rounds of private venture funding, he started Great Forest Executive Consulting, providing both strategic and operational consulting to emerging growth companies in the Oregon and Portland metropolitan markets.
Prior to entering the technology industry, Guy was awarded his CPA license and worked with Ernst and Young in both their audit and tax practices. He has served on the board of directors for the non-profit Software Association of Oregon as well as several committees with the AEA Oregon Council. Guy graduated from Loyola University in Los Angeles, California.
Al oversees Attensa's product development, delivery and technical operations. Prior to Attensa, he ran Chockstone's Engineering and Product Management groups. Hooton was previously VP Operations and Engineering at Cayuse, Inc., the recognized leader in the field of electronic preparation, submission and management of research proposals, where he restructured development strategies and processes through three major product cycles during a period of growth from 2 to 21 customers. Prior to that, he was director of product development at PlantCML and held various leadership positions, including CIO, at Statia FX.
Hooton holds a Baccalaureate of Science degree in Computer Science from Purdue University, and a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Louisiana. Al has been professionally active in the software and information system industries for 27 years, holding various positions including hardware/software engineer, chief architect, quality assurance manager, engineering manager, Chief Information Officer and President.
Billy brings 19 years of sales and senior management experience to Attensa. His most recent role prior to joining Attensa was with the IBM Corporation where he was responsible to building and managing global client outsourcing engagements in the Energy and Utility sector. Prior to IBM, Billy was the Vice President of Sales at Financial Profiles, and enterprise software firm that focused on financial planning and wealth management clients in the financial services sector. He also served as the National Sales Director for EC Cubed, a component-based software development firm in Stamford, CT, a senior consultant at Keane, a leading global technology outsourcing and software development firm in Boston, MA, and National Sales Director for the supply chain management firm Tilion also in Boston, MA. Billy started his career with the General Electric Corporation and was a General Manager (Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas and Tennessee) for GE's 10 billion dollar ITS division which provided hardware, software, outsourcing and services for the Financial, Manufacturing, Health Care and Government Sectors. Billy holds a BBA from The University of Mississippi.
Scott has 20 years of experience developing integrated corporate communications strategies that build brands and demand for technology companies. In his current role he sets the direction for all Attensa corporate communications programs including positioning and messaging strategies, media relations, Internet marketing, advertising, and corporate events. Prior to joining Attensa, Scott managed marketing for InFocus and Pixelworks, two startups that launched successful IPOs. He was responsible for marketing communications at Extensis. He has a B.S. in Journalism from the University of Colorado, and completed graduate level studies toward a Masters in Marketing Communications from Roosevelt University.
